A mum smuggled Mamba and cannabis into prison during a "group hug" with a child and a prisoner, a court was told. Georgina Gayle passed a package of drugs to the man, a serving prisoner at Ranby Prison in Retford on February 2, 2020.
He shoved the drugs into his underpants but was spotted by a prison guard who seized the cannabis - which had a value of between £1,100 and £2,200 - a higher-priced commodity in prison, as well as the Mamba, with an estimated worth of between £600 and £1,500.
Gayle, 43, of Milnroy Road, Leicester, was interviewed, Nottingham Crown Court heard on Tuesday (October 11). She was threatened to deliver the package - or other inmates would beat up her brother in Ranby.

The parcel of drugs was posted through her door in an envelope and she took it into the jail. The court heard there was a long history of domestic violence in her life.
Gayle went on to plead guilty to taking drugs into prison. Her sentence was 16 months jail, suspended for 18 months, and 25 rehabilitation activity days. Judge Mark Watson said she was caught in the act passing a package to a prisoner which contained cannabis and Mamba.
"You are a hardworking mother with caring responsibilities," he told her in the dock. "Despite being caught red-handed in February 2020, despite admissions at the time, you had to wait two years before you were brought before the court.
"That is an unacceptable delay, in my judgement. You have shown your true colours by staying out of trouble and getting on with your life in the meantime".
