Prison officers will be armed with Tasers in the wake of an attack on guards by Manchester Arena bomb plotter Hashem Abedi, the Lord Chancellor has announced.
Shabana Mahmood announced on Tuesday that she has approved a trial of the electric stun guns behind bars as part of a wider review of prison safety. The move follows calls from prison officers for Tasers to be available to guards on the frontline at UK’s toughest jails.
