Britain's Princess Kate has issued an apology for missing the annual Trooping the Colour rehearsal as she continues her battle with cancer, which she revealed in March. As the Honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards, she sent a heartfelt letter to the troops expressing her best wishes.
Princess Kate expressed regret for her absence at the recent Colonel Review, a customary event held a week before the Trooping of the Colour. Despite her health challenges, she conveyed her eagerness to return to her duties soon. Last year, she assumed the role of colonel of the regiment from her husband, Prince William.
In her message to the Irish Guards, Princess Kate stated, 'Being your colonel remains an honor. Please pass on my apologies to the whole regiment. I do hope that I'm able to represent you all once again very soon.' The Irish Guards responded with gratitude, expressing their support for her recovery.
While Kensington Palace announced that Princess Kate will not resume her duties until cleared by her medical team, Prince William recently provided reassurance that she is progressing well. Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles III, who is also undergoing cancer treatment, is expected to participate in the upcoming Trooping of the Colors ceremony.
The annual ceremony, which commemorates the sovereign's birthday and has a history spanning over 260 years, will feature more than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians. Last year, King Charles III inspected the troops on horseback, but this year, he will be seated in a carriage alongside Queen Camilla.
Details regarding the type and stage of cancer affecting both the king and Princess Kate have not been disclosed publicly. Despite their health challenges, both royals are determined to fulfill their ceremonial duties and continue serving their respective roles.
