Princess Eugenie shares adorable snap of son August taking first steps at Easter

Princess Eugenie has shared some adorable photos of young son August enjoying the Easter holiday - and taking what looks like some of his first steps.

The Queen's granddaughter took to Instagram to post the pictures of her one-year-old son and to wish her followers a Happy Easter.

And in one of the images, the tot can be seen taking some tentative steps in a gorgeous spring-like garden filled with daffodils.

In the picture, August can be seen taking little steps away from his dad Jack Brooksbank towards a very proud-looking and beaming Eugenie, who is waiting for him with her arms outstretched.

Minutes earlier, mum Eugenie had posted another photo showing August, dressed in an adorable blue jumper, khaki trousers and little trainers, standing among flowers almost as tall as him.

The little boy appears to be clapping his hands, with Eugenie captioning the photo "Happy Easter".

Little August was born last February and is 13th in line to the throne, with his great grandmother the Queen.

He was christened last year in a rare royal double christening alongside Zara and Mike Tindall's young son Lucas.

August and Lucas both share the same middle name of Philip - a tribute to their great-grandfather Prince Philip who died last year shortly after the two boys were born.

Eugenie sharing the rare photo of her son comes as it is reported that she played a huge role in organising Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's secret visit to see the Queen and Prince Charles last week.

According to the Mail's Richard Kay, she played a big role in setting up the Sussexes' trip to Windsor behind the scenes.

Eugenie is very close to Harry and Meghan and is believed to be the only royal who has the chance to visit their daughter Lilibet when she visited the US earlier this year. Harry and Eugenie were photographed together watching the Super Bowl.

After moving to the US, Meghan and Harry gave her their Windsor home Frogmore Cottage where she has now based her new family.

The Sussexes stayed with Eugenie, Jack and August during their brief time in the UK.

Kay writes: "It was also the first time Meghan had seen any of her royal in-laws since March 2020. Intriguingly it involved a fifth member of the Royal Family who was not present at either meeting – Princess Eugenie.

"The princess who is temporarily living in her cousin’s Frogmore Cottage with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their son August is thought to have played an ‘encouraging’ role behind the scenes.

"She is Harry’s closest royal ally – she and Jack visited the Sussexes in California earlier this year – and is also close to the Queen."
