Princess Eugenie has revealed the name of her newborn second son - and explained the heartfelt meaning behind it.
The 33-year-old announced today on her Instagram account that she and husband Jack Brooksbank had welcomed another baby boy called Ernest George Ronnie.
She posted two sweet snaps of the newborn - one of him wearing a knitted blue-and-white hat, asleep in a Moses basket, and one of older son August tenderly stroking his brother's head.
And commenting on the pictures, she revealed that the infant's names were inspired by several family members - including a former monarch.
Eugenie explained: "He is named after his great great great Grandfather George, his Grandpa George and my Grandpa Ronald."
The baby's great-great-great grandfather George is George V, the grandfather of the late Queen, who was King from May 1910 until his death in December 1936 - who had Ernest as one of his middle names.
His first middle name George is in tender tribute to his late grandfather George Brooksbank, Jack's dad, who sadly died in November 2021 at the age of 72 after being unwell for some time following a battle with Covid.
Meanwhile, his second middle name Ronnie is in tribute to Ronald Ferguson, the late father of Eugenie's mum Sarah Ferguson. The former royal polo manager died in 2003 and was dubbed "the galloping major".
Eugenie gave birth nearly a week ago on Tuesday, May 30 to the 7lb 1oz boy and the new arrival is 13th in line to the throne moving the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward down to 14th place. He is a third grandchild for Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
The newborn is also a 13th great-grandchild of the late Queen - and is the first one to be born since her death last September. He will not receive a title or HRH status as he is not a grandchild of the current monarch King Charles, who is his great uncle.
Ernest's birth comes two years after Eugenie's first born August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, who arrived at the exclusive Portland Hospital in central London on February 9, 2021.
His name also pays tribute to a late family members - his great-grandfather Prince Philip, who died just weeks after Eugenie welcomed her son.
In a documentary in September 2021, Eugenie revealed August got to meet Philip shortly before he passed away.
Holding back the tears, Eugenie explained: "We named August, August Philip because grandpa has been such a huge, inspiring character in my life.
"I brought little August to come and meet him and told him that we had named him after him and it was such a lovely moment."
Eugenie and husband Jack tied the knot back in 2018 in a grand wedding at Windsor Castle - just months after the nuptials of her cousin Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Guests at the wedding included the late Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales and celebrities including Robbie Williams and Ellie Goulding.
