Princess Diana's black "revenge dress" is going up for sale again. Sotheby's has announced it will auction the Christina Stambolian gown at a standalone evening fashion sale in New York on December 9, part of the house's Luxury Week programming, giving the dress its first turn on the auction block in decades.
Sotheby's has given the dress a preliminary estimate of $150,000 to $300,000, though a report from the Press Association put the expected price as high as £220,000. Before the December sale, the gown will make stops across the globe: it will tour London, Hong Kong and Geneva ahead of the New York auction, with a public viewing at Sotheby's in London running from September 18 to September 24.
