Princess Diana's former butler Paul Burrell says Harry and Meghan should 'stay in America' as Netflix documentary reaction continues

Former butler to Princess Diana, Paul Burrell has warned the British public to not be "fooled" and "look beyond" Prince Harry and Meghan's explosive Netflix documentary. Speaking on ITV morning show Lorraine after Harry and Meghan's documentary was released on the streaming platform at 8am, Paul said the couple were making themselves look like victims and believes they should "stay in America".

The documentary series has split opinions as Harry and Meghan aim to tell their truth and their reasons for stepping down as working Royals in 2020. Harry and Meghan was released today, December 8 and viewers were able to stream the first three episodes, while the second lot of three will be released next week. Burrell, who worked for the Royal households for 21 years and also appeared on I'm a Celebrity, had some strong views on the show, which he shared with Lorraine.

Paul believes that King Charles III will be "absolutely furious" at the documentary, believing the couple will not be attending Prince Charles's coronation and said he thinks Harry and Meghan should "stay in America". Explaining that he was "part of their world, part of their lives", having known Diana when she was pregnant with Harry, Paul said he "did not like" the narrative Harry and Meghan are portraying and described it as "very sad".

He said: "When the British public sees this, don't be fooled. Look beyond it because there is more to the story than they are actually projecting." Paul went on to say the documentary series was edited and produced to show Harry and Meghan as "victims".

Paul explained: "They weren't always victims. Harry led a very privileged life." and said that the late Princess Diana always told Harry in return for his privileged life that he had to do public service. Being very critical Paul said Harry chose to ignore public service, he said: "He chose to turn his back on this country and on his public service and live a lifestyle in Hollywood."

The first episodes of Harry and Meghan dropped on Netflix on Thursday, December 8 and the next three episodes will air on Netflix on Thursday, December 15.
