Princess Beatrice 'trusted' to help Queen and has 'good judgement', says expert

Although she's not a working royal, Princess Beatrice has certainly had a busy diary of public appearances recently.

This week alone she's been to the Chelsea Flower Show and joined her cousin Prince William, his wife Kate as well as her uncle and aunt Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex at a Buckingham Palace garden party.

Her appearances have come after her grandmother the Queen has been forced to cut down and even pull out of some royal engagements due to her current mobility problems.

And according to several royal experts, her growing public appearances are down to her role as a "trusted" member of the Firm and her seeming growing confidence since becoming a mum nine months ago to daughter Sienna.

Royal biographer Angela Levin told MailOnline that Beatrice has always been seen as being "reliable" with "good judgement".

She added: "I think [Beatrice] is a trusted member of the royal family and seen as somebody who is sound.

"And now she is married and a mother, she is seen as much more confident."

Meanwhile, fellow royal author and editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, Ingrid Seward, explained: "'Princess Beatrice is a lovely person and I imagine she wants to help her grandmother as much as she can.

"She has a baby but has a top Norland nanny to take over when necessary. So I think she enjoys doing royal events with her husband and has the ability and wherewithal to do them."

Beatrice has previously spoken of her admiration for her grandmother the Queen and the pair are thought to be very close.

The biggest indication of the sweet bond between granddaughter and grandmother came in July 2020 - on Beatrice's wedding day.

Beatrice wed husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a scaled back ceremony due to strict Covid restrictions at the time.

The Queen and the late Prince Philip were among the small number of guests - and for the big day, Beatrice wore a dress straight from the Queen's wardrobe.

The dress was designed by Norman Hartnell, with the Queen having worn it to several glitzy occasions in the 1960s.

She wore the gown to the Lawrence of Arabia film premiere at the Odeon in Leicester Square on December 10, 1962. She also wore the dress to the State Opening in 1966.

The dress was remodelled for Beatrice and fitted by the Queen's senior dresser Angela Kelly and designer Stewart Parvin, Buckingham Palace said.

Beatrice also wore the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara which was also on loan from the Queen and even worn by the monarch on her wedding day.
