Princess Beatrice and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi christen their baby daughter

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have christened their baby daughter at a private ceremony, reports claim.

The royal and her husband, who wed in July 2020, were joined by members of their family on Friday at Chapel Royal, St James’ Palace.

It is understood Beatrice's sister Beatrice's sister Princess Eugenie and their mother, Sarah Ferguson, at the royal palace in central London.

Beatrice gave birth to Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi on September 18, 2021, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

There were suggestions Beatrice, 33, was to christen Sienna in November last year when Eugenie's son August and Zara and Mike Tindall's son Lucas were baptised together in the presence of the Queen at the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor, Berkshire.

But Sienna was just two months old at the time, and Beatrice herself was christened when she was four months old in 1988.

Buckingham Palace confirmed Beatrice and property developer Edoardo, who was born and raised in London, welcomed their child last year in an official statement.

It read: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

"The baby weighs 6 pounds and 2 ounces. The new baby's grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news. The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.

"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf."

Shortly after the birth, a family friend of the couple explained the sweet meaning behind the name Sienna.

"They were looking for an Italian name which started with an S for Sarah, to honour the Duchess [Sarah Ferguson], and also reflected the golden rust colour of both the Duchess's hair colour and Beatrice's, which the new baby shares," they said.

Edoardo, 38, had Christopher Woolf with American architect Dara Huang in 2016.

But after his relationship with the architect ended, Edoardo met Beatrice and they started a relationship in 2018.

Their wedding, scheduled for May 29, 2020, was postponed the ceremony in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. They finally tied the knot in July that year at a private ceremony in Windsor.
