Princess Anne made her annual visit to Strathcarron Hospice in Denny this week where she received a warm greeting from patients, staff and family guests.
The Princess Royal who is a patron of the Falkirk based hospice which offers expert palliative care to people from Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth has been a regular visitor for almost 40 years with her first trip dating back to 1984.
Anne, 72, was welcomed back with open arms on Tuesday morning as she was gifted with bouquets of flowers and their long standing tradition of homemade shortbread from staff on arrival.
The Princess was met by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant and his Cadet, who escorted her to the Hospice at around 10am where she met with all the patients from each ward individually as she shook their hands and asked them about their lives.
Alan Brett, 77 from Kilsyth who was one of the patients that met the Princess, said she was "very nice" and briefly spoke to him about his time in Borneo where he served with the British Army.
Mr Brett even surprised Anne by telling her he had recently watched the 'interesting' Channel 4 documentary 'Princess Anne: The Plot to Kidnap a Royal' over the weekend to which the Princess hilariously replied: "Oh, I didn't know there was one on!"
This year was an extra special visit as it was the first year the Princess has been able to visit the hospice in a couple of years without having to wear a face mask due to the Covid-19 regulations.
Photographer Ian McDiarmid was also present to snap professional pictures of the Princess meeting the patients with a printed photo of the special moment being sent to their families.
Irene McKie, CEO of Strathcarron Hospice said: "We all look forward to our annual visit from HRH The Princess Royal.
"It is a special date in Strathcarron Hospices's diary and there is always a great atmosphere in the Hospice in the days running up to her arrival.
"It is fantastic that she can devote so much of her time to be with us."
The Princess was also praised online by fans for her support towards the Hospice as one person dubbed the royal as 'wonder woman' while another former staff member commented: "She raised everyone's spirits and gave us lasting precious memories".
Strathcarron Hospice supports people across Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth living with a life limiting condition to help to make every moment count for patients and their families. You can donate to the hospice here.

The new monarch was presented with the Honours of Scotland which are the oldest crown jewels in Britain during a special ceremony of Thanksgiving at St Giles' Cathedral.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were also present to honour the celebrations for the new King and Queen who were officially crowned on May 6.
