Princess and prizewinners champion hope against 'darker times' at Princess of Asturias Awards

Performing the revolutionary spoken-word poetry with which she launched her artistic career, poet Patti Smith captured the spirit of the speeches at the 46th Princess of Asturias Awards as she sang 'Wing'. In the song, which pays tribute to the Spain that honoured her on Friday at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo, she pokes fun at the mistaken notion that human beings can survive without one another, while also championing personal freedom.
