Prince Philip will always be remembered as the Queen's beloved husband - but he was also a much-loved grandfather and great-grandfather.
He and the Queen had eight grandchildren between them including Prince William and Prince Harry.
Philip, who died almost one year ago aged 99, was close to his grandsons and was at their side in the aftermath of their mother Princess Diana's tragic death following a car crash in Paris in 1997 aged 36.
On the day of her funeral, Philip agreed to walk with William and Harry as well as Prince Charles and Earl Spencer as they followed her coffin in a procession to Westminster Abbey.
And on that day, Philip secretly comforted William, who was just 15 at the time, with a touching gesture when he thought they were out of sight of the cameras.
As the procession went under an arch in Horse Guards Parade on the way to the Abbey, Philip reached out to his grandson and gently touched his back in a show of support.

And according to Martin Palmer, co-founder of The Alliance of Religions and Conservation, the late Duke told him about the moment of comfort on the sad day.
He told the ITV documentary Philip: Prince, Husband, Father: "There’s a moment where they go under the Horse Guards Parade arch where it’s quite clear that Prince Philip - and I asked him about this he said, 'Yes, I didn’t think the cameras could see us' - at that point he turns to William, who he is walking beside and comforts him.
"You’ve just got to watch that moment and realise here is a grandfather who is trying to help his young, very vulnerable grandson struggle through this awful, awful moment.
"He knew what it was like to be a member of a dysfunctional family and he did his damnedest to make sure that did not happen to his grandchildren."
Philip died last year on April 9 at Windsor Castle following a remarkable life and was laid to rest in a scaled-back funeral service due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Only 30 guests attended the service but both William and Harry were among them.
Just last week, more than 1,800 people came together to celebrate Philip's life at a memorial service of thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey - although Harry wasn't one of them.
The Queen, who was able to make the service, is expected to mark Saturday's sad milestone of a year since Philip's death privately at Windsor Castle.
