The Prince of Wales is scheduled to make a live radio appearance on Heart Breakfast this Friday, during a significant visit to the Isles of Scilly.
Prince William will join popular hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden for a special programme, where he is expected to discuss various initiatives on the archipelago that are actively supported by the Duchy of Cornwall, the radio station has confirmed.
Beyond his broadcast commitment, the Prince is also visiting the area to officially open a new wing at a hospital in St Mary’s. This crucial development aims to significantly improve access to healthcare across the remote islands, enabling residents to receive essential care closer to their homes.
Heart revealed that William had "personally invited" Theakston and Holden to join him for the broadcast, conveying his message: "Hi Jamie and Amanda, I’m heading down to the Isles of Scilly, off the coast of Cornwall, on Friday, to see some of the terrific work going on there to support the local community."
His visit highlights ongoing efforts to bolster local services and community welfare.
“I’m also opening the new wing of the hospital in St Mary’s, which will be a fantastic moment.
“Amanda, I know how fond you are of Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly, so it would be really lovely if you could both come along.
“Have a great morning guys and I very much look forward to seeing you on Friday. Bye!”
The show will be the first time Heart has broadcast from the islands, the station said.
Richard Steel, managing editor of Heart, said: “We’re incredibly proud to deliver the first-ever national radio broadcast live from the Isles of Scilly.
“It’s also a real moment for Heart to welcome the Prince of Wales on air for the first time and we’re thrilled to bring this special broadcast to our listeners as Prince William marks the opening of the new facility at the Isles of Scilly Hospital.
“We can’t wait to turn up the feel good from the Isles.”
As heir to the throne, the Prince of Wales inherited the Duchy of Cornwall estate – a portfolio of land, property and investments valued at more than £1 billion – when his father became King.
The duchy provides William, who is the 25th Duke of Cornwall, with a private income of nearly £23 million a year.
The money is used to fund the charitable, private and official lives of William, the Princess of Wales and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Friday’s show will be broadcast live from 6.30am until 10am with listeners able to tune in through Global Player and YouTube.
