Prince William thanks Lorraine Kelly for work on bowel cancer campaign No Butts

Prince William has lent his support to Lorraine Kelly’s No Butts bowel cancer campaign and says the late Dame Deborah James would be “so proud” that she is carrying on her legacy.

The initiative, which was first spearheaded by James and Kelly in 2021, strives to raise awareness of bowel cancer and the symptoms of the disease in support of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month.

The Scottish TV presenter, 63, announced on Monday that it would be returning for a third year with this year’s campaign celebrating the life of James, who died last year at the age of 40 from bowel cancer.

The Prince of Wales, 40, who previously championed the cause alongside James, recorded a new video which was shown on ITV’s Lorraine on Thursday and urged viewers to take note of the signs and symptoms of the disease.

Speaking in the clip, William said: “Hi Lorraine, I just want to say a big thank you to you and your team for all you’re doing to raise awareness around bowel cancer through your No Butts campaign.

“As you know I got to meet Dame Deborah, so I know how important this was to her. 46,000 people each year get diagnosed with bowel cancer and yet many of us don’t know the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer, particularly in us men.

“So if you’re watching this, please take a second to listen and learn about the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer, it could save your life.”

The royal later shared the video on Twitter along with a caption which read: “Lorraine, Dame Deborah James would be so proud of what you and the team are doing to raise awareness of bowel cancer. Keep up the great work,” followed by the hashtag #No Butts.
