Prince William has congratulated Aston Villa after it netted a third consecutive win in the Champions League.
The Prince of Wales, a lifelong supporter of the club, celebrated online after the side breezed to a 2-0 victory over Bologna to maintain their winning streak so far.
TNT sports commentator Ally McCoist quipped during the game that the Prince of Wales could be among the avid Villa fans watching from home.
He appeared to have been correct, with the royal - who honoured McCoist with an OBE at Windsor Castle earlier this month - reposting a tweet on Villa’s victory, saying: “'Of course I was watching, @Ally_McCoist9.”
He added: “#UTV”, which stands for “Up the Villa”, and signed off with his initial, “W”.

McCoist was awarded an OBE at Windsor Castle on October 2 for services to football and broadcasting, writing on social media: “Such a proud moment for myself and my family.
“I am humbled to be receiving my OBE from Prince William at Windsor Castle today. Thank you for all the support and messages it means so much.”
He joked: “Did we speak about Aston Villa?? That’s between the Prince and I.”
In an interview with the Scottish Sun, the former Rangers striker told of his meeting with William, saying: “I think the fact that we had met before and chatted before was a good degree of comfort.
“It was great, it was special. You sometimes worry will there be things to say, will there be things to talk about, but he puts everybody at ease. I really enjoyed the couple of minutes’ conversation we had.”
He added in the interview, which came ahead of Aston Villa’s clash with Bayern Munich: “I’m obviously well aware that the prince is an Aston Villa fan – they’ve got a very, very big game tonight, which I think he’s going to.
“So we spoke about that, and just generally working in broadcasting and life, really.”
The Prince of Wales said at the time he lost his voice while celebrating his team’s win against the German side.
Television footage showed William cheering and hugging those next to him at Villa Park, as his team beat Bayern 1-0 on October 2 in a repeat of their European Cup final win 42 years ago.
After the game, he said: “I’ve lost my voice. I can’t quite believe it. 42 years.”
Earlier this year, William was seen cheering on the England men’s national team at the Euros.
