Prince William pays touching tribute to Diana on Mother’s Day

The Prince of Wales has paid a poignant tribute to his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, sharing a cherished photograph to mark Mother’s Day.

Prince William stated he remembers her "today and every day" in a message posted on social media.

The image, drawn from the family’s private collection, captures a tender moment between Diana and a two-year-old William amid a field of flowers.

The photograph was taken in 1984 at Highgrove, Gloucestershire, the family’s main residence at the time.

William’s signed message on X read: "Remembering my mother, today and every day. Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother’s Day. W"

Diana tragically died aged 36 in a road accident in Paris on 31 August 1997, and would have celebrated her 65th birthday on 1 July this year.

The wider Royal Family also shared a series of photographs on X to commemorate Mother’s Day. These included a picture of King Charles and his sister Anne, now the Princess Royal, with their mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, at Balmoral, Scotland, in 1953.

The photograph shows the family seated on a garden bench, with the Queen’s corgi, Sue, visible in the background.

This image predates the births of Charles’s younger brothers, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Edward, the current Duke of Edinburgh.

Further images featured the late Queen with her mother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and Camilla with her late mother, Rosalind Shand.

The accompanying message conveyed: "Wishing Mothers everywhere, and those who might be missing their Mums today, a restful Mothering Sunday."

The Mother’s Day messages come just a day after a new book on Prince Harry sparked controversy.

The book, written by Tom Bower, claims Camilla told a friend she believed Meghan Markle had “brainwashed” Harry, before the couple left the UK to move to the US in 2020.
