When you call up your favourite local restaurant to book a table, the last thing you'd probably expect to hear is the voice of Prince William on the other end of the phone.
But that was exactly what happened to one unsuspecting customer as the Prince and Princess of Wales paid a royal visit to The Indian Streatery in Birmingham on Thursday, April 20. As the couple were being treated to a cocktail masterclass at the restaurant, the phone rang - and much to the surprise of the staff, William picked it up to take the table request, BirminghamLive reports.
The Prince negotiated a time with the customer, and could be heard asking: "Maybe half past two? In about an hour, does that work for you? Oh, you've got a train at three - ok. I think you can probably get in at half past two, that would be fine... or maybe quarter past two?"

Kate Middleton and the restaurant's staff members were left giggling as the exchange unfolded, as Kate whispered to her husband that he should encourage the customer to come in earlier to meet the royal pair. But William didn't give the game away, telling them: "Ok, so we'll see you at quarter past two. Ok, bye-bye," before putting down the phone - potentially leaving the customer none the wiser about who had just taken their booking.
William and Kate were in Birmingham to celebrate the city's diverse culture and heritage, by speaking to future leaders in creative industries as well as visiting famous spots such as the Jewellery Quarter to chat to designers, artists and playwrights. It comes just over a fortnight before King Charles' coronation, which is set to take place on Saturday, May 6.
The children of the Prince and Princess of Wales will all play an important role in the coronation, with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all set to accompany Charles and Camilla in a procession as they leave Westminster Abbey after the service. The children are expected to join their parents in a carriage behind the King and Queen Consort, who will travel in the Golden State Coach as they return to Buckingham Palace.
It has also been confirmed that Prince Harry will attend the coronation, but that his wife Meghan will remain in America with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. It will mark Harry's first time in public alongside his brother, sister-in-law and the rest of the royal family since the release of his memoir Spare; however, reports suggest that he is not expected to take part in the coronation processions to and from Buckingham Palace, nor will he appear on the palace balcony.
