Prince William has left Balmoral and is travelling back to Windsor to be with his family ahead of the Accession Council, Kensington Palace said.
The Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge, who is a Privy Counsellor, will attend the Accession Council tomorrow where his father King Charles III will be formally proclaimed as the new sovereign.
He rushed to the Aberdeenshire estate on Thursday afternoon following a warning from doctor’s that his 96-year-old grandmother was seriously unwell.
William flew into Aberdeen International Airport before driving a Range Rover to the Aberdeenshire estate in a two-car convoy.
He was joined by the Duke of York as well as the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Edward and Sophie, before entering the gates shortly after 5pm.
It is believed Her Majesty passed away with her two eldest children, King Charles III and Anne, Princess Royal, by her side.
Prince Harry arrived a short time later before being spotted leaving the estate to fly down south on Friday morning. Wife Meghan is understood to have stayed in London.
Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, remained in Windsor with her and William’s children.
King Charles III and the Queen Consort Camilla also stayed overnight at Balmoral before flying to London from Aberdeen International Airport earlier today.
It later landed at RAF Northolt in west London.
