Lord Robert Fellowes, the uncle of Prince William and Prince Harry, passed away at the age of 82 on Monday. The cause of his death remains undisclosed, as reported in his obituary published in the London Times on Wednesday.
Fellowes became Princess Diana's brother-in-law in April 1978 when he married her sister, Lady Jane Fellowes. Princess Diana had the honor of being one of Jane's bridesmaids at their wedding. The couple had three children - daughters Laura, 44, and Eleanor, 38, and son Alexander, 41 - who have not yet made any public statements regarding their father's passing.
Both Prince William, 42, and Prince Harry, 39, have also not released any official statements regarding the loss of their uncle.
Robert Fellowes had a career in banking before and after serving as Queen Elizabeth II's private secretary from 1990 to 1999. Notably, he was involved during Princess Diana's divorce from Prince Charles in 1996, following his affair with now-wife Queen Camilla. He also provided counsel to Queen Elizabeth after Princess Diana's tragic death in a car crash the following year.
After the accident, Robert Fellowes expressed his fondness for Princess Diana, describing her as a 'good, good person' and expressing sadness for her struggles to find happiness in life.
