The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have appeared to make light of their youngest son's antics as they thanked everyone who turned out for the weekend of Platinum Jubilee celebrations marking the Queen’s 70-year reign. Prince William and Kate made an appearance at each of the official events taking place over the four-day weekend.
But it wasn't the couple, who have been married for 11 years, who captured everyone's attention. It was their four-year-old son Prince Louis who stole the show as he joined his parents and two older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, for the balcony appearance following Trooping the Colour and Sunday's Platinum Pageant.
The young Prince Louis could be spotted pulling a flurry of hilarious faces as he joined his family - including his 96-year-old great-grandmother whom the whole weekend was for - on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. His face was quickly used as memes as the youngster momentarily appeared disinterested in what was going on around him.
And with the cheers from below and the noise of the RAF flypast above, things all got a bit noisy for Louis, so he put his hands over his ears and once again pulled a series of picture-worthy faces. But there were also sweeter moments.
As thousands gathered below to cheer his great-grandmother and the rest of the family, Prince Louis seemed to wonder what it was all about. The Queen had seen it all before and her little chat with Louis on the balcony was a touching moment. Viewers also cooed as they saw little Louis waving frantically to the crowds, and munching on a chocolate biscuit.
While he missed out on the Platinum Party at the Palace - which was instead attended by George and Charlotte who sang along to the likes of Sweet Caroline while waving Union Jack flags - Louis was back in full force for the Platinum Pageant.
The youngster was once against the star of the show as he marvelled at the pageant, which told the story of her life, and the nation, with an eccentric, fun and imaginative carnival-like display and included a 'Time of Our Lives' segment which saw a whole host of famous faces aboard open-top buses waving to the crowds as they represented each decade in which the Queen has been on the throne.
But he also got in a bit of bother with his mum, attempting to getting her to stop talking by putting his hand over her mouth before sticking his tongue out. He was then on the move and as well as sitting on his father's knee, he also headed to his grandfather Prince Charles' lap during the final official ceremony of the weekend.
"Seeing people across the nation coming together with family, friends and loved ones has been extremely special. Thank you to everyone who turned out to show their gratitude to the Queen and her inspiring 70 years of leadership. From the crowds on the Mall to communities hosting street parties up and down the country, we hope you had a weekend to remember."
And now it has been said that Prince Louis "especially" had an incredible time at the celebrations to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, his parents have said. In a personal message, alongside behind-the-scenes images and clips from the weekend’s events, William and Kate tweeted: "What a fantastic weekend of celebrations."
They then ended their note: "We all had an incredible time, especially Louis…" adding the eyes emoji, knowing full well the eyes of the nation and the role had been on Louis and his many faces.
And fans were still showing support. @reallifeduchess commented: "Nobody can out party Prince Louis! Thank you for including him, and allowing him to be a child! You’re doing a wonderful job as parents!!" @klxnthall said: "All 4 year olds are equal even little Princes." @addie_mae_jewel wrote: "We are so thankful for you and grateful for Louis too! He gave us all such a great laugh!!"
