Prince William and Kate Middleton share 'breathtaking' behind-the-scenes Coronation footage

The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared behind-the-scenes footage from King Charles' coronation. Prince William, 40, and Kate Middleton, 41, shared an intimate insight into today's historical occasion as King Charles III and Queen Camilla were crowned at Westminster Abbey.

Footage shared on the The Prince and Princess of Wales' official Instagram showed Prince William leading his daughter Princess Charlotte, eight, and her brother Prince Louis, five, to the vehicle that transported them to the service. Charlotte was seen gasping in excitement as they hopped into their cars.

The rest of the video montage shows highlights from the big day, from the procession to the Abbey to the flypast on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. "What. A. Day," the video was captioned. "Thank you to everyone who made it happen #Coronation."

Viewers watching the Coronation at home were left wondering where Prince Louis had gone at one point in the service after appearing to disappear halfway through the ceremony. Thankfully, the young Prince’s absence was only short with him reappearing some minutes later.

The Mirror reported that the reason why he was not seen watching the service was due to him being so young he was "retired" during the service, in a move that was pre-planned. It came after the youngster was seen yawning and fidgeting.

During the first half of the ceremony, he could be seen letting out a big yawn. He yawned again shortly after the King was crowned, just after midday.

Louis arrived at Westminster Abbey in an outfit made by Dege and Skinner, which consisted of a Hainsworth Garter Blue Doeskin Tunic with specially designed lace work embellishment to the collar, cuffs and fronts. The leg garment is black complete with Garter Blue stripe.

Meanwhile, Charlotte was her mum's 'mini me' in her own Alexander McQueen dress and cape in ivory silk crepe with ivory satin stitch embroidery featuring rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs to signify the four home nations. She also wore a Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen headpiece silver bullion, crystal and silver thread work, similar to the one worn by her mother.

Older brother Prince George did not join his siblings as he took on page of honour duties with the prestigious task of helping to carry the King Charles and Camilla's heavy state robes. After the ceremony the Wales family joined the procession back to Buckingham Palace behind the gold state coach.
