This Morning chef John Torode was awarded with an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) over the weekend, and on Monday, March 6, the 57-year-old told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about the conversation he shared with Prince William during the honours investiture. Appearing on This Morning, John revealed he was told the Princess of Wales is a fan of a certain television show co-presented by the Australian chef.
After being congratulated on the ITV daytime television show, John explained how being awarded with such an accolade by the future king was "one of the most exciting days" of his life. "The atmosphere from everybody was so exciting," he said. "It was just brilliant, absolutely joyous."

Phil soon interrupted, eager to know what his conversation with Prince William, who presented the MBE to John, was like. The author and renowned Masterchef judge said: "The conversation was that he'd... we'd met before - I'd cooked for him once before when he was playing polo - and then he said to me he wanted to learn to cook.
"I said 'Well that's fine. You've got my number, just give me a ring any time you like and I'll teach you. That's fine'.
"And then he was concerned that I wasn't on MasterChef because he'd been watching [MasterChef] The Professionals, which I don't do, and he said that Catherine would be very very pleased that I'm still doing MasterChef. [I thought that] was really nice."
The telly chef and food star received his MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours on Thursday, February 23, for his services to food and charity. Taking to Instagram later that day, John Torode - who is married to celebrity chef Lisa Faulkner - posted a proud picture alongside the caption: "What a day. Investiture at Buckingham Palace to receive my MBE, presented by Prince William, Prince of Wales. Had a lovely chat. Amazing".
His television family at This Morning were quick to comment, offering messages of support. Holly Willoughby said :"Awww congratulations", while Alison Hammond wrote: "Congratulations John . We are so very proud of you."
This Morning airs on ITV at 10am on weekdays.
