Prince Louis left people in stitches as they tuned into the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations across the weekend by showing his cheekiest faces off to the cameras - and now one of his family members has given an explanation for his hilarious antics.
The four-year-old stole the show during Sunday’s Jubilee pageant with his defiant behaviour, blowing raspberries and wagging a finger at his mum Kate Middleton and even covering her mouth when she tried to speak to him. A restless Louis switched between being absorbed in the festivities to being bored by them, showing off his dance moves one minute and covering his face the next.
Now the reason behind the prince’s larger-than-life attitude has been revealed by rugby star and fellow royal family member Mike Tindall. The 43-year-old is married to Princess Anne’s daughter Zara, and the pair have three children together.

Mike gave some behind-the-scenes insight into the Jubilee celebrations on his podcast The Good, The Bad & The Rugby after he attended events across the weekend with his family, The Mirror reports . Mike couldn’t help but mention Louis as co-hosts James Haskell and Alex Payne noted that the children were the real “star of the show”.
Mike, who was sitting behind the prince during the pageant with his two daughters Mia and Lena, said: “Louis was just wanting to have fun. And my two are always mischievous, so it was just trying to keep a lid on it.
“There were a lot of sweets out back though, so they had complete sugar-highs”, he added, giving an explanation for Louis’ high energy. Mike also acknowledged that the Jubilee wasn’t an easy gig for the kids.
“It was tough for them, they’re all young, asking them to sit in there from two until five is a long time,” he said. “As any parent knows, you just do whatever needs to be done.”
Fellow mums praised the Duchess for her parenting skills during Louis’ cheeky display - and Supernanny Jo Frost also weighed in on Louis’ behaviour, piling on the praise for Kate. “Love how mum is addressing in public prince Louis needing to listen up and do as he’s told,” she wrote on an Instagram post from Hello! Magazine.
Despite Louis’ cheeky display, there were also some heartwarming moments between the prince and his mum. The four-year-old was seen cuddling up to the Duchess, at one point resting his head on her shoulder and giving her a kiss on the cheek.
