Prince Harry spotted enjoying the action behind the scenes at US Grand Prix

Prince Harry was spotted enjoying the drama and a bit of time behind the scenes at the US Grand Prix.

The 39-year-old was in Austin, Texas, as a guest of the Mercedes and Red Bull teams at the major sporting event over the weekend.

At Mercedes, Prince Harry cut a pensive figure as he gnawed at his fingernails amid the building tension.

The Duke of Sussex has been something of a lucky charm for star driver Lewis Hamilton. He was a guest of Mercedes when Hamilton secured his second title in the 2014 season decider in Abu Dhabi, leading the congratulations to his fellow Briton on the radio.

Seven-time world champion Hamilton, who originally came second, was later disqualified after his car failed a post-race inspection. Not one to show favouritism, Prince Harry was also seen speaking with Red Bull team boss Christian Horner during the competition.

The Duke’s wife Meghan Markle, 42, was not in attendance. The pair have just returned from a romantic trip to Caribbean haven Canouan where they appeared to enjoy some child-free time away.

The couple share two children – Archie, three, and Lilibet, one.

Spotting the couple while on their trip, a source told MailOnline: "They looked happy. As Harry walked out of the shop, he slightly bumped into one of the barrels [outside] and they both giggled and Meghan reached for his hand.

"They just looked very happy to be having a holiday together."

The uber-luxurious island is known as the place where 'billionaires go to escape millionaires'. It is private and only offers guests a handful of upmarket places to stay.

It comes as The Duke and Duchess of Sussex condemned “all acts of terrorism and brutality” and pledged to support efforts to send urgent aid to the region amid the Israel-Hamas war earlier this month.

Under the title With Heavy Hearts, Harry and Meghan said in a statement on their Archewell Foundation website that they support action to “help all innocent victims of this unconscionable level of human suffering”.

Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israel on Saturday and killed hundreds of Israelis.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration has retaliated with a bombardment that has demolished neighbourhoods in the Palestinian Gaza Strip, and halted the entry of food, water, fuel and medicine into the territory.

The war has already claimed at least 2,300 lives on both sides.

The statement read: “At the Archewell Foundation, with Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, we stand against all acts of terrorism and brutality.

“We are supporting our partners and organisations on the front lines in Israel to provide the urgent aid needed, and to help all innocent victims of this unconscionable level of human suffering.”
