One simple word from Prince Harry cost him his entire relationship with his brother, Prince William, and the possibility of any future reconciliation between the two feuding brothers, a royal commentator claims.
Daniela Elser claims that Harry has paid a hefty personal price for his newfound freedom away from the royals after he published his bombshell autobiography Spare, the Mirror reports.
The royal commentator spoke of one particular "keyword" that may have ruined any potential hope of Harry reuniting with his older brother William.
The word Elser is referring to is found in a piece J.R Moehringer, his ghost writer, wrote for the New Yorker about the process of helping celebrities tell their stories.
The royal commentator highlights a moment described by Mr Moehringer where the Duke expresses his happiness at the book sales and how relieved he is that the truth is out there.
Mr Moehringer said: "He mentioned my advice, to 'trust the book,' and said he was glad that he did because it felt incredible to have the truth out there, to feel – his voice caught – 'free'.
"There were tears in his eyes. Mine, too."
According to Elser, the keyword "free" symbolises Prince Harry's pursuit of personal liberation and his brave decision to share his side of the story in Spare.
However, by expressing his freedom and revealing intimate family details which shamed his own relatives including Prince William, Harry has now damaged their relationship claims Ms Elser.
Shocking revelations in the autobiography such as William's alleged aggression and jealousy have undeniably caused a huge rift between the brothers, making any chance of a reconciliation in the near future pretty unlikely.
Elser added: "However, in pursuit of that single word – “free” – Harry has paid, whether he quite realises it or not, an extraordinarily high personal price.
"Perhaps the most obvious loss is of his brother Prince William."
The royal commentator also spoke of how Spare was not the only time Harry had portrayed William in a negative light as he also spoke of his bad experiences with his brother during his controversial Netflix documentary with Meghan Markle.
During their docuseries, the Duke said: "Harry told audiences that the Prince had been “terrified” after William “screamed and shouted” at him during the Sandringham Summit"
She went on to add that he appeared to suggest his brother's aides had been involved in planting and leaking stories to the press.
Elser said: "This was hardly likely to improve the channels of communication between Kensington Palace and Sussex base camp but really, none of this was smoking gun territory.
"Reconciliation still seemed a viable possibility if just one of the proud men had the courage to WhatsApp the other."
