Prince Harry is “ready to forget” his ongoing row with the Royal Family and will attempt to reconcile with them before Christmas, it has been claimed.
The Duke of Sussex is said to be hopeful that he can revive his relationship with his brother and father following a bitter feud prompted by his marriage to Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.
The claims were reported in French magazine Paris Match, which shared new extracts from a book written by journalist Omid Scobie about Harry and Meghan and their departure from the monarchy.
Endgame is the second book about the couple authored by Mr Scobie, who released Finding Freedom in 2020.
In one extract, Mr Scobie claims that Harry said: “I'm ready to forget. Get an apology or explanation? At this point, who cares, right?” when discussing the feud with his family.
Mr Scobie goes on to claim that Harry “has not managed to find common ground with his family”, adding: “He has accepted the idea that it would perhaps never change, especially with his brother who flatly refuses to speak to him about it.”
The book claims that the Sussexes also keep King Charles “up to date with their family life by sending him photos” of their son Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2. It follows claims that Harry called his father to wish him a happy 75th birthday, with the Telegraph reporting that the warm conversation marked a turning point.
In the book it is also claimed:
- The Princess of Wales spent "more time talking about Meghan... than with Meghan" and she now "shudders and giggles nervously" when her name is mentioned
- Meghan did not attend the King's coronation because she did not want to "dive back into the soap opera of the court"
- Harry told Charles "don't you want to see your grandchildren anymore" after he was evicted from Frogmore Cottage
- There is "no going back" for Harry and William's relationship and "nothing has changed" since Harry released his tell-all biography Spare this year
Harry, who stepped down as a working royal in 2020, has had a fraught relationship with Charles and previously alleged he had once stopped returning his calls.
Endgame also recounts Harry’s experience on the day the late Queen died in September 2022, when he claims Prince William did not respond to his texts as he tried to arrange to travel to Balmoral.
“It was upsetting to witness,” a source close to the Sussexes told Mr Scobie. “(Harry) was completely by himself on this.”
Relations between William and Harry have also long been strained, and worsened after the accusations Harry publicly levelled at his brother in double tell-alls: his memoir Spare and his Netflix documentary.
In Spare, released just months after Elizabeth II died, Harry accused William of physically attacking him and pushing him into a dog bowl in a row over Meghan.
The release of Endgame comes amid ongoing legal action taken by Prince Harry against the publisher of the Daily Mail at the High Court.
Harry, alongside a number of other high-profile people, is suing Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) over denied allegations of unlawful information gathering.
