Prince Harry claims that his brother Prince William physically attacked following an argument over Meghan Markle, according to his new book.
The Duke of Sussex claims his sibling knocked him to the floor after grabbing his collar in a leaked excerpt of his new memoir, Spare, which is set to be released later this month.
The alleged brawl took place at Harry's London home back in 2019 and apparently left him covered in cuts and scratches. William is said to have stopped by to talk about their strained relationship when things got physical, the Mirror reports.
The now Prince of Wales was at Harry's Nottingham Cottage Home when the pair began a heated argument - during which William allegedly called Meghan Markle "difficult, rude and abrasive".
Harry then rubbished his brother's claims he was trying to help and went to the kitchen where he told him "Willy, I can’t speak to you when you’re like this", the Guardian reports.
The Duke writes in the passage from the book: "He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me.
"It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me.
"I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out."
William then asked his brother not to tell Meghan about what had just happened, to which Harry replied: “You mean that you attacked me?”
His brother responded: “I didn’t attack you, Harold.”
And although Harry didn't tell his wife, Meghan later noticed the "scrapes and bruises" on his back.
The comments about Meghan that William had made during the argument are said to have parroted the "press narrative" surrounding the Duchess of Sussex at that time.
Another revelation made in the book suggests King Charles joked on the day of Prince Harry’s birth at his delight of having an "heir and a spare".
The Duke's book Spare will be released on January 10, with millions around the world eager to get their hands on a copy.
Its title relates to the term 'an heir and a spare', which refers to the succession of power after a monarch's death.
And Harry has said that the phrase has been surrounding him ever since birth, writing how the King told Princess Diana: "Wonderful! Now you’ve given me an heir and a spare.
"My work is done."
The bombshell claims come after Prince Harry was seen saying he wants his "father and brother back" in a trailer for a new ITV interview.
The 90-minute special with News at Ten presenter Tom Bradby will be broadcast on January 8, two days before Spare is published.
Another interview with CBS News, set to air the same day, sees Harry criticising Buckingham Palace over an alleged failure to defend him and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, before they stepped down as senior royals.
The book also suggests King Charles asked his sons not to make his “final years a misery” in a meeting with the siblings after Prince Philip's funeral.
In its pages Harry writes about a meeting in April 2021 with the then Prince of Wales standing between them, before telling them: “'Please boys, don't make my final years a misery.”
Kensington Palace declined to comment.
