Prince Harry memoirs 'awkward launch clash' with much anticipated Obama book

Prince Harry’s memoir which threatens new explosive details about the Royal Family faces a possibly awkward publication clash with Michelle Obama’s new autobiography.

Penguin Random House will be publishing both books and Mrs Obama has already revealed that she will be bringing out her follow-up personal account to Becoming - which was one of the best selling books of all time.

And both books are likely to be released around the same time which would make it difficult for Harry’s new book to top the bestsellers list.

It is speculated that this could be the reason why the publisher has yet to say when the Duke of Sussex’s memoir will be released.

One option would be to bring out his book in October ahead of Mrs Obama’s “The Light We Carry” which will be available from November 15 and planned for the Thanksgiving and Christmas markets.

That way Harry’s book would have a good chance to top the New York Times Bestseller List, before being “totally eclipsed” by Mrs Obama’s autobiography, said an insider, reported the Daily Mail.

"It would certainly account for a lot of the uncertainty. Michelle Obama is a phenomenon and her new book is expected to top every bestseller list in the world. She would totally eclipse anything by Harry. It could potentially be quite difficult timing," they said.

Penguin Random House announced last year that Harry was writing a memoir that was due to come out this autumn and in it he would be giving a “definitive account” of his life going from his early life to where he is today.

It immediately led to speculation that he would use the book to reveal more details that could be uncomfortable and embarrassing for the Royal Family.

And it follows the way Harry has spoken regularly about his problems with the Royal Family, especially in a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey where he spoke of needing to break the cycle and bring up his children in a different environment.

Ghostwriter JR Moehringer is believed to have finished writing the book and it has been checked by lawyers.

But still no date has been given for when it will be published.
