Prince Harry has extended invitations to his family for the upcoming Invictus Games 10-year celebration ceremony in London. Despite the invitation, no senior members of the royal family are expected to attend the event at St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday.
Harry's sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, is currently undergoing cancer treatment out of the public eye, while his relationship with his older brother, Prince William, remains strained. The brothers have not spoken for over a year following the release of Harry's memoir, 'Spare.'
Reports suggest that Harry has invited William and other royal family members to honor the veterans charity he founded. It remains uncertain if Harry will have a chance to see his father, King Charles, who is also undergoing cancer treatment. Buckingham Palace has refrained from commenting on private meetings.
Charles is expected to invite Harry and Meghan Markle to Balmoral castle in Scotland this summer to reunite with their grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. The last time Harry saw his father was in February when he flew from California to visit Charles, who was diagnosed with cancer.
Despite the family dynamics, Harry is hosting the event celebrating a decade of his charity that supports wounded servicemen and women. His cousins, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and Zara Phillips, are also potentially attending the celebrations.
Harry will be staying in a London hotel as he no longer has a UK home after relinquishing Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate. Markle will not be accompanying him on this trip. The couple is scheduled to visit Nigeria later this month for an Invictus Games-related tour, with the Nigerian government covering their security costs.
During their time in Nigeria, Harry and Markle will meet with officials, veterans, and athletes involved in the Invictus Games. Their itinerary includes visits to military rehabilitation centers, sports facilities, and meetings with local organizations supporting veterans' welfare.
