Prince Harry has said that his new memoir Spare "could have been two books" - but he avoided including certain revelations over fears that it would permanently sever his relationship with father King Charles and brother Prince William.
The Duke of Sussex told The Telegraph that the first draft of the book, which hit the shelves this week, came in at 800 pages - double the length of the final manuscript. Harry admitted that he had revealed several stories to his ghost-writer JR Moehringer during the process of writing the memoir "for context" that there was "absolutely no way" would be included in the book.
"There are some things that have happened, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that I just don’t want the world to know," he said. "Because I don’t think they would ever forgive me."

Harry added that he wanted to see some "accountability" from his family over the way he and wife Meghan Markle were treated. "Now you could argue that some of the stuff I’ve put in there, well, they will never forgive me anyway," he said.
"But the way I see it is, I’m willing to forgive you for everything you’ve done, and I wish you’d actually sat down with me, properly, and instead of saying I’m delusional and paranoid, actually sit down and have a proper conversation about this, because what I’d really like is some accountability. And an apology to my wife."
The prince insisted that he was trying to "save" the monarchy, in the wake of criticism from fans of the Royal Family over the explosive revelations made in Spare. "This is not about trying to collapse the monarchy, this is about trying to save them from themselves," he said. "And I know that I will get crucified by numerous people for saying that."
Elsewhere in the interview, Harry expressed concern over Prince William's children George, Charlotte and Louis and said that he had spoken to his brother about his fears. "Though William and I have talked about it once or twice, and he has made it very clear to me that his kids are not my responsibility, I still feel a responsibility knowing that out of those three children, at least one will end up like me, the spare. And that hurts, that worries me," he admitted.
