Prince Harry may not be banned from wearing his military uniform at his father's Coronation next week.
The Duke of Sussex has confirmed that he will attend the historic occasion on Saturday, May 9, but he could be subject to the restriction, while wife Meghan stays behind in California. This isn't the first time the veteran would have to endure such a fate.
Last year, he was unable to wear his grandmother's ER - Elizabeth Regina - initials on his uniform, while he stood vigil over the late Queen. Beside him were brother William and cousins Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie.
An expert has weighed in on the situation and suspects that while Harry won't be wearing his army garments, he will pay homage to his father in a different way, reports the Mirror.
Military Historian Dr Peter Johnston told True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat that instead of the full get-up, Harry may honour the King by wearing his medals.
Dr Johnson said: “I imagine Harry won't wear uniform [at the Coronation]. Even as a veteran who did two tours in Afghanistan, he won't wear uniform.
"I imagine he'll wear his medals but quite where he fits within the procession and where he comes, I think will be probably reasonably similar to where he was at the funeral as well. He'll be a part of it, but not necessarily, a [leading] part of it.”
Royal experts have previously warned the Coronation is set to be a “humiliating” and “painful” event in which Harry will be treated like a “pariah”. Without the support of his spouse, Harry risks being left “exposed” to hostile family members, one author claimed.
Royal author Tessa Dunlop told OK! magazine she had studied footage of Harry helping Meghan into the car when he came out of St. George’s Chapel following the Queen’s funeral.
"He just wasn’t a man who was comfortable in his skin. And this time he’s coming over without the support of Meghan.”
Clearly, he does lean on her very heavily. And he’s coming alone. That means he’s exposed, effectively. He will be made to sit [farther from the royals] at best. So, he will have that feeling of demotion.”
Meanwhile, Harry will not be the only outcast at the Coronation, the king’s disgraced brother, Prince Andrew, stripped of his titles after being accused of raping 17-year-old Virginia Giuffre, which he denies, will also be in attendance.
However, even Andrew “will be afforded better treatment [than Harry] and shown more respect by the Crown,” claimed Another royal author, Christopher Andersen.
