Prince Harry doesn't have great respect for Camilla after bond went 'off boil', says expert

Prince Harry doesn't hold his stepmum Camilla in great respect and has no interest in developing a relationship with her, a royal expert has said.

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, became a stepmum to both Harry and his older brother Prince William when she married their dad Prince Charles in 2005.

After a difficult introduction to royal life following the death of Princess Diana, Camilla, who turns 75 today, will be known as Queen Consort when Charles becomes King.

And despite the duchess being fully embraced by her stepson at first, royal expert and author Ingrid Seward told the Mirror's Pod Save the Queen podcast that their relationship "went off the boil".

In a teaser clip from a future episode, Ingrid explained: "When she became a stepmum, they were very happy to embrace her. Most of their friends' parents were divorced and remarried - so it wasn't sort of a really unusual thing to happen.

"But then it went off the boil a bit but Camilla never interfered in their lives, she really really took care not to or to say 'well you can't do this or you can't do that'.

"If they asked her something, she would offer some advice but she really kept right in the background.

"But I don't think Harry has a great deal of warmth for her, he waxes and wanes with her.

"I think William completely appreciated Camilla and what's she done for his father and he has got to know her well and I think he is very, very fond of her."

And Ingrid believes that despite their rocky bond, Harry has no intention of developing a relationship with his stepmum.

She added: "I don't know about the recent trip but certainly I think Harry was quite happy to accept Camilla in the beginning but then went off the boil about her and I don't think he holds her in great respect.

"Things might have changed very very recently since he came over here and spent a little bit of time with his father but they haven't really had a chance to be together since Harry and Meghan left so I don't think that relationship will have really developed.

"I don't think Harry is interested in developing a relationship with his stepmother at this stage in his life."

Meanwhile earlier this year, it was reported that Harry's bombshell memoir, due out later this year, will make clear his feelings about Camilla and is set to “shake the monarchy to the core".

Harry's friends predict that the Duchess of Cornwall will come in for particular criticism in the no-holds-barred memoir.

His silence “speaks volumes” says one pal, who alleged Harry, 37, is still not close to Camilla.
