Prince Harry cut childhood pal from wedding after snide Meghan Markle comment, claims expert

A-list celebs sat side-by-side with members of the royal family to watch Prince Harry marry Meghan Markle.

George and Amal Clooney, Elton John, David and Victoria Beckham, Oprah Winfrey and Serena Williams were just a few of the famous faces among the 600 guests invited to witness the couple's vows in St George's Chapel in Windsor in May 2018.

But a few surprise names didn't make the cut, including some of Harry's oldest friends.

After the public ceremony, which was broadcast on TV for the world to watch, the newlyweds began their private celebrations with family and friends. First, guests enjoyed a lunch reception hosted by the Queen.

Once the sit-down event was finished it was time to party, and guests moved on to a second reception - this time hosted by Prince Charles and Camilla at Frogmore Cottage, where the guestlist was cut down to 200.

But there was one person who was peeved not to be included in the evening celebrations - one of Harry's oldest friends, Tom Inskip, known by his friends as 'Skippy'.

Skippy and Harry were said to be the best of friends since they met at Eton, but when Harry and Meghan started dating, their friendship became strained.

According to royal biographers Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand in their book Finding Freedom, Skippy wasn't happy about being cut from the list and made a snide remark at brunch the following day.

While he attended the church service, he wasn't on the guestlist for the evening party, even though a number of A-list celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Amal Clooney were.

The authors say that on the day after the wedding, Skippy said he felt like he'd forever 'lost his friend.'

They write: "Notable absent were Skippy, Harry's old friend, who had questioned the prince's relationship with Meghan, and his wife, Lara.

"They were invited to the wedding ceremony and lunchtime reception but didn't make the cut for the evening bash.

"As a brunch the day after the wedding, Skippy told friends 'Meghan has changed Harry too much'.

"His Eton friend said the prince was awed by the likes of the Clooneys and Oprah.

"'We've lost him', Skippy concluded.

"Many of Harry's old friends said that the evening guest list was the prince and his bride's way of saying 'these are the people we want in our lives moving forward'."

The book also made reference to concerns that Skippy raised about how fast Harry's romance with Meghan was moving.

The authors claim that Skippy advised Harry to try living with Meghan for a bit before "before doing anything more serious".

And although Skippy's comment "came from a good place", Harry was "very hurt."
