Royal fans have shared their reactions to Prince Harry's bombshell interview with ITV after a twenty-second trailer dropped on Twitter this morning - with some insisting it's 'heartbreaking', while others feel Harry comes off as 'lost and pathetic'.
Harry: The Interview, sees the Prince go into unprecedented depth and detail on life in and out of the Royal Family.
Speaking to ITV News at Ten presenter Tom Bradby, who Harry has known for more than 20 years, the prince shares his personal story in his own words.
The 90-minute special will be broadcast two days before Prince Harry ’s autobiography Spare is published on 10 January as part of a publicity trail for the tell-all tome.
The in-depth interview will cover a range of subjects including his personal relationships, never-before-heard details surrounding the death of his mother, Diana, and a look ahead at his future after quitting the Royal Family alongside wife Meghan Markle .
In the twenty second preview clip which was released earlier today, Harry is heard telling Tom 'it never needed to be this way'.
The Prince is also heard saying that 'they' have shown no interest in reconciling, when speaking about his family, and in particular, his brother William and father, King Charles.
Following the release of the bombshell trailer, Royal fans flocked to Twitter to share their reactions.
One unimpressed ITV viewer tweeted: "I feel it such a shame that the once much loved Prince Harry has chose to attack his family the way he has, and now to me, he’s probably the worst member of our Royal Family and that’s saying a lot with Prince Andrew."
"Could never forget the stain he has caused for the final years of her late Majesty's reign with his interviews, accusations etc ,and then 3 month to the day of her passing and now the book," another complained.
Someone else sarcastically replied: "Generally speaking I find that slagging your family off multiple times to a global audience tends to get in the way of any chance of reconciliation. Could be just me though."
While a fourth twitter user wrote: "No attempt to reconcile? How can they when they knew the book and docu-series were coming out and you were recording video notes since 2020. I'm sure they'd love to have a conversation knowing it wouldn't be potentially replayed via another interview in several months."
Elsewhere, others defended Prince Harry, insisting that the situation with his family is 'heartbreaking'.
"He seems so lost. His family is all he has ever known and they they have turned their back on him because he got lost along the way. It's heartbreaking to watch," one Twitter user penned.
"Harry looks so sad all the time. I really do feel bad for him but I can totally understand why his family are so angry with him. I'm not sure there's ever going to be room for a reconciliation," another shared.
While someone else tweeted: "Heartbreaking really. All I see is a young man who misses his family. Things have went wrong and they have all made mistakes, but this is just sad to see."
Of his ITV interview, Michael Jermey, ITV Director of News and Current Affairs, said: “It is extremely rare for a member of the Royal Family to speak so openly about their experience at the heart of the institution.
“Tom Bradby’s interview with Prince Harry will be a programme that everyone with an informed opinion on the monarchy should want to watch."
Meanwhile, Ian Rumsey, ITN Productions Managing Director and Executive Producer, said: "Harry's version of events contains many elements we've never heard before, as viewers will see. It is a raw and intimate perspective on his relationships with the people closest to him and the moments that have shaped him."
Harry: The Interview is on ITV1 and ITVX at 9pm on January 8
