Princes William and Harry are healing their feud with weekly online messages and face-to-face chats ahead of their Queen’s Jubilee meeting.
The previously warring pair are now said to be back to some form of normality after William made the first move to heal the family rift before next weekend’s celebrations.
The brothers have been messaging each other every few days on WhatsApp – and are also having regular FaceTime calls with their respective children.
But wives Meghan and Kate, both 40, have so far held back from onscreen contact, giving their husbands time to fix their relationship one-to-one.
A source said William, 39, had been disappointed about the abrupt way the Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the royal family and moved to California – but that he has now moved on.
And Harry, 37, who is expected to fly to the UK tomorrow night with his wife and children, is now looking forward to seeing the rest of his family and celebrating his grandmother’s Platinum Jubilee.
A source said: “The brothers needed time for everything to settle down. The family, including William, had been disappointed in the way Harry and Meghan chose to leave the royal family.
But now there is a strong feeling that what happened is in the past and that they have moved on.
Prince William wanted to embrace Harry and they have been messaging each other every few days.
“They’ve also had FaceTime calls with their children, which has allowed them to re-bond.
“William sees that Meghan is a good mother and loyal wife and he is genuinely pleased for his brother.
“It seems that the two of them have healed the rift and are very much back on their old buddy terms.
“Meghan’s distance from Kate has also helped heal the friction bet the two men.”
Meghan previously claimed that Kate made her cry during a bridesmaid dress fitting for her 2018 wedding and has not spoken to her since quitting royal duties two years ago.
But tomorrow night she will fly here with Harry and children Archie, three, and 11-month old Lilibet, and is said to be looking forward to the celebrations.
Yesterday William took part in full dress rehearsals for the Queen’s annual birthday parade, Trooping the Colour, just a day after his brother played in a polo match in Santa Barbara, California.
News of their healing relationship will be a relief to the Queen who will welcome Harry and Meghan with open arms next week – and will see two of her great-grandchildren for the first time.
The 96-year-old sovereign has made it clear she does not want any family tensions to overshadow next weekend’s four-day national celebration.
She is expected to spend time privately with Archie and Lilibet – the Queen’s childhood family nickname.
Prince Charles will also meet Lilibet for the first time and has not seen Archie since the three-year-old was a baby.
We can reveal Harry and Meghan will throw a small party for Lilibet’s first birthday next Saturday at their Windsor home Frogmore Cottage – a short drive from the Queen’s castle apartments.
Wills and Kate aren’t expected to attend due to prior engagements but Harry and Meghan will host Lilibet’s godparents and close friends.
The Queen, who is in Scotland enjoying a break at Balmoral, has always made clear that Harry and Meghan are much loved members of her family.
The Jubilee bank holiday weekend runs from Thursday to Sunday.
Harry and Meghan are expected to go straight to Frogmore when they arrive in London. The couple will attend the national Service of Thanksgiving for the Queen at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday.
It is understood the Sussexes are likely to attend at least one other public engagement.
Sources say they could be expected at the Jubilee pageant in their own carriage The Queen has invited only working royals – as well as William and Kate’s children George, eight, Charlotte, seven and Louis, four – on to the Buckingham Palace balcony for Thursday’s Trooping of the Colour.
But it has been reported that Harry and Meghan could be in the VIP section to watch the spectacular military event in Horse Guards Parade.
The source added: “The Queen wanted the Jubilee to be a fresh start for the brothers. Harry has been looking forward to coming home and showing his family. It’s home after all and he’s missed it.”
Princes Harry and William did not respond to requests for comment.
