Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will "bring in extra headlines" to this year's Met Gala if they manage to bag an invitation to the prestigious event.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex could be making their debut at the fashion extravaganza in May, just days before King Charles' Coronation.
They would bring with them "epic drama", according to a celebrity PR expert.
Prince Harry would become the first ever royal to go to the Met Gala, if the couple get the greenlight to attend.
There has been speculation around whether they will be invited to the red carpet event, but a leading publicity expert told The Mirror the claims that they won't go are ridiculous.
"The speculation that Meghan and Harry won't receive invites to the Met Gala because of the drama surrounding them is quite frankly hilarious," PR expert Mayah Riaz told us.
"When you think of the Met Gala, you think if drama. It's synonymous with epic drama.
"By having Harry and Meghan at the Met Gala will certainly bring in extra headlines and maybe scrutiny too."
However, she said Harry and Meghan might turn down the chance to attend the Hollywood extravaganza if they decide to go to the King's Coronation.
"The Met Gala will be held few days from the King's coronation. So it could be that Harry and Meghan may well be in London in preparation for the historic event," Mayah said.
"Which could be the real reason as to why they may not be getting the invite to the Met Gala."
She suggested: "With the couple refusing the invite, it'll be the Met Gala getting the snub rather than the other way around."
Coveted invites to the big event are sent out by a select committee, headed up by Vogue's Anna Wintour, with only the top ranking stars of screen, fashion and music meriting a pass.
Harry and Meghan aren't the only ones at risk of not being invited to the Met Gala, with the Kardashian family said to have been cut from the guest list as Anna Wintour "cracks down" on who can attend.
Kim Kardashian stole the show at the Met Gala last year as she rocked up in Marilyn Monroe's iconic gold dress.
The 42-year-old attended last year's event as well as her sisters Khloe, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie.
Speaking to Page Six, an insider said Anna had been "cracking down on the guests at the annual fashion fete and no Kardashians will make the cut".
However, a source close to the Kardashians later claimed to the publication this was not the case.
