Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'still not trusted by royals' after bombshell Oprah interview

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are "still not trusted" by William and Kate after their bombshell Oprah interview, claims one royal expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex sat down for their tell all interview with Oprah in 2021, where they made the explosive claims that one unnamed royal family member queried the colour of their baby Archie's skin. The couple shocked the nation as they stepped down from their positions as senior royals in 2020, and have since moved to California with their two children, Archie, three and Lillibet, one.

Vanity Fair Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl has claimed that William and Kate avoided the Sussexes during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, not because of busy schedules, but because of a lack of trust. She told Entertainment Weekly: "I think that does signal not just a busy timetable on the part of the Cambridge's but perhaps also a bit of a lack of trust."

She continued: "I do know that William and Kate are worried that anything they might say or do with the fact that it could end up being leaked to the media. So, I think in the case of really having to prove now that they can be trusted."

The couple returned to the UK for their first family trip for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, allowing Royal Family members to meet their daughter Lilibet for the first time. Over the weekend celebrations for the Queen, the Sussex's planned a birthday party for their daughter as she turned one during their trip.

However, members of the Royal Family are "reluctant to admit any involvement" in Lilibet's birthday party, according to sources. Royal expert Camilla Tominey said only Zara and Mike Tindall and Peter Phillips' children attended Lilibet's birthday party on June 4, the same weekend as the Queen's Jubilee celebrations.

Writing in the Telegraph, she said: "Although the wider family were invited to Lilibet’s first birthday party on the Saturday, only the Tindalls’ and Mr Phillips’ children attended, while their parents spent the afternoon at the Epsom Derby." According to one source: "There was a bit of reluctance among the royals to admit to having any involvement in Lilibet’s birthday party.'"
