Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly involved in a 'near catastrophic' car chase with the paparazzi, a spokesperson has said.
The incident occurred in New York on Tuesday, May 16, with the pair also joined by Meghan's mother at an awards ceremony. In a statement to Reuters, the prince's spokesperson said the "relentless pursuit" lasted for over two hours.
The incident apparently resulted in multiple near-misses with fellow motorists, pedestrians and police officers. "While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone's safety," the spokesperson said.

"Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice that is dangerous to all in involved," reports the BBC.
The incident is said to have happened after the couple's first public appearance together since the King's Coronation. The New York Police Department did not immediately confirm knowledge of the incident.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were joined by Meghan's mother Doria Ragland at the Ms Foundation Women of Vision's 50th anniversary gala event.
