Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were heckled for 'destroying the royal family' as they arrived at an awards ceremony on Tuesday night.
The couple attended a gala in New York for the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights (RFKHR) organisation for winning the Ripple of Hope Award in their first public appearance since trailers for their new Netflix documentary dropped.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were recognised for their campaigning against "structural racism" and mental health issues.
There were huge crowds outside the city's Midtown Hilton hotel hoping to catch a glimpse of the royal couple before they entered the gala.
As reported by Mirror, the couple were greeted by a heckler who shouted: "What do you think about destroying the royal family?"
The couple were escorted past the press who shouted questions about their highly anticipated Netflix docuseries that is set to be released tomorrow (December 8) on the streaming platform.
A clip shared to Twitter by ITV journalist Fred Dimbleby captured a heckler shouting at them.
Others in the crowd - set back from the hotel and red carpet - can be seen trying to film the couple on their phones, with some whooping in support, in the footage.
As Harry steps out of a car, a woman can be heard saying: "That's him! That's him!" A man says: "Harry, over here!"
Then a heckler jumps in as Harry waits for Meghan to get out of the car with an umbrella. In the clip, the couple don't respond to the man who appears to have an English accent and it's unclear if they could hear him.
The man can also be heard saying: "Meghan, you've destroyed the royal family!"
Last night's event was the couples first public appearance since the trailers for their docuseries made waves. They were snapped yesterday stepping out of a private jet in NYC before quickly making their way to a car.
The Ripple of Hope awards honour individuals for their charitable efforts, and was hosted by Kerry Kennedy - niece of John F. Kennedy. The royal pair received an award for their campaigning against "structural racism" and mental health issues.
During the ceremony they were seated alongside Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin. Later, Meghan and Harry gave an interview on the stage where they spoke about their life since moving to the US and their own experiences with mental health.
The duchess spoke openly about having suicidal thoughts while 'trapped' in the Firm.
Harry & Meghan is due out tomorrow as part of their multi-million pound deal with the streaming service.
The royal family are said to be worried it will contain more damaging allegations in light of the Sussexes' previous TV projects, including their Oprah Winfrey interview last year.
Speaking to the talk show legend, Meghan claimed a member of the Firm had made racist comments about her then-unborn son Archie.
The project will reportedly be "utterly explosive", some experts claim.
One source in contact with a Netflix production insider said: "I genuinely think it’s going to be worse than the royals can imagine. I’m told that it’s going to be utterly explosive and will be very damaging."
