Prince Harry and Meghan Markle give fans a glimpse inside their first UK home Nottingham Cottage

Netflix viewers got a glimpse of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s domestic life at Nottingham Cottage in the latest instalment of their docuseries.

In episode four, the couple shared clips and photographs of their first UK home together, a two-bedroom property in the grounds of Kensington Palace.

Nottingham Cottage is where Markle stayed while she was visiting Harry during their transatlantic early relationship. In 2017, Prince Harry proposed in the garden outside, popping champagne while Meghan was roasting a chicken, the couple have revealed.

Describing the cottage, Prince Harry shared: “As far as people were concerned, we were living in a palace. And we were, in a cottage... in palace grounds."

"Kensington Palace sounds very regal, of course it does," the actress explained. "It says 'palace' in the name! But Nottingham Cottage was so small."

The Duke of Sussex added: "The whole thing's on a slight lean, really low ceilings. I don't know who was there before, they must have been very short."

Laughing, the former Suits star continued: "He [Harry] would just hit his head constantly in that place because he's so tall."

Prince Harry also shared that Oprah Winfrey was among the guests that visited them at Nottingham Cottage and admitted the TV mogul said upon entering their home: “She said, ‘No one would ever believe it!’”

Despite it being at the heart of a royal estate in London, the cottage has a distinctive countryside feel.

In one clip, the couple can be seen doing DIY in their garden, with Prince Harry varnishing a wooden gazebo and Markle hosing down their plants while other footage showcased the property’s cobbled walkways and shrubs.

The pair also shared photos inside the cottage, notably one of the Duke of Sussex in his military dress uniform joking around with his wife, while the former Hollywood star was dressed in a burgundy Self-Portrait midi dress.

The home’s interiors echoed the countryside feel with shaggy cushions, throws and cream furnishings while black picture frames lined the walls.

One of the smallest properties on the Kensington Palace estate, Harry moved in during 2012, after Kate and William moved into a larger home to accommodate their growing family.

The glimpse into their domestic life comes as the final three episodex of the couple’s Netflix documentary landed on the streaming service on Thursday morning.
