Prince Harry and Meghan Markle found the Platinum Jubilee celebrations "difficult", a royal expert has claimed.
Tina Brown, royal author, appeared on Lorraine this morning as she spoke about the Sussexes decision to come to the Jubilee celebrations to mark the Queen's 70 year reign. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew over from their home in California, bringing both their children with them, and it marked the first time the Queen met Lillibet.
Harry and Meghan attended one of the Jubilee events, but weren't present at the rest of them and the royal expert has claimed it must have been tough for Harry to watch on from the sidelines.
"It was great that they were able to introduce Lillibet to the Queen. I'm sure that everyone wanted that to happen. But it clearly was uncomfortable that they were there but not really present. It was awkward," she said on the ITV show.
Presenter Lorraine Kelly then chimed in to add: "Do you think there's any way back for him? I mean I don't know if he even wants it, but I wonder what was going through his mind when he was sitting there with the cousins out of the way and he wasn't on the balcony and he wasn't part of it at all - having been used to being right in the middle of everything.
"It's kind of what he wanted, but even when you get what you want, it's kind of not what you want."
Tina then went on to say: "I don't think it's what he wanted in terms of the way he played out. I think there was a slight fantasy that he had that he can be in and out. But you can't pick and choose and you can't be in and out."
"He served his country for 10 years, he was always in the middle of all that and I think it must have been, for him, quite poignant and difficult," she then added of Prince Harry's feelings towards the event.
Harry and Meghan jetted in for the celebrations, but it is believed they just spent 15 minutes with the Queen.
"It was a quick in and out job. It was all quite formal," a source told The Sun, amid claims that the meeting was incredibly formal and kept that way by Buckingham Palace aides.
