Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are 'brave trailblazers' for leaving the Royal Family

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been described as "trailblazers" for their decision to step down from the Royal Family and move to America.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the decision to step down as working royals in January 2020 and now live with their children - Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet - in Montecito, California.

Sarah Ferguson has shared her thoughts on the couple's decision and said they are "trailblazers" for sticking to their beliefs.

"The thing is – and I'm really adamant about this – is that anyone that is out there really trailblazing for their own beliefs, and it doesn’t matter where you're from or who you are, you trailblaze for what you believe – that's very brave," the Duchess of York said.

Speaking to Australian TV presenter Matt Shirvington, she added: "I would never be one to make a comment on any other member of the Royal Family or anybody who does that.

"I just find anyone that stands very tall about their own beliefs is very brave, whoever it is."

After stepping down from their roles within the Royal Family, Harry and Meghan issued a statement to inform royal fans of their decision.

"We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen," it read.

They initially moved to Canada, but they soon upped sticks and settled on their current home in California.

Their secluded nine-bedroom home sees the couple count US TV royalty such as Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres as their neighbours.

Meghan says her new home makes her "feel free" and is "calm and healing" to live in the luxury home in the gated community in Santa Barbara.

In an interview with The Cut, the 41-year-old gushed over her 18,000-square-foot home.

The property boasts nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, as well as a tennis court, tea house and two-bedroom guest house.

There's also a chicken coop, a pool and a pool house, and two palm trees joined together at the bottom of the garden.
