Prince Harry has accused his brother and sister-in-law of "stereotyping" Meghan Markle, saying their "behaviour" caused a barrier in terms of them welcoming her into the family.
In his latest TV interview, this time with ITV's Tom Bradby, Harry takes aim at the Prince and Princess of Wales, saying they never expected him to end up with "someone like Meghan" - referring to her successful acting career.
He admits Kate and William didn't get on with Meghan "from the get-go", while also making the surprising admission that they couple were huge Suits fans.
Asked why the relationship got off on a bad note, Harry says there were "lots of different reasons".
He goes on: "I don’t think they were ever expecting me to get into a relationship with someone like Meghan, who had, you know, a very successful career.
"There was a lot of stereotyping that was happening, that I was guilty of as well, at the beginning."
Pushed on what he meant by that, Harry continues: "American actress, and that was playing out in the British press in the media at the time as well.
"I had that in the back of my mind, and some of the things that my brother and sister-in-law – some of the way that they were acting or behaving definitely felt to me as though unfortunately that stereotyping was causing a bit of a barrier to them really sort of, you know, introducing or welcoming her in."
Asked specifically what he means. Harry adds: "Well, American actress, divorced, biracial - there's all different parts to that and what that can mean but if you are, like a lot of my family do, if you are reading the press, the British tabloids, [Yeah] at the same time as living the life, then there is a tendency where you could actually end up living in the tabloid bubble rather than the actual reality."
Much has been said about the previously dubbed Fab Four's relationship.
In an interview shortly after their engagement, the couple recalled their first meeting. Meghan said: "[Kate] has been wonderful", while Harry added "amazing, as has William as well, you know, fantastic support."
Meghan joined William, Harry and Kate in their work as the Royal Foundation, adding support to their ongoing projects. Meghan and Kate also made a handful of joint engagements, including sitting side-by-side for an afternoon of tennis at Wimbledon.
However after the wedding there were reports that Meghan and Kate weren't really getting alone, with countless reports over the now-infamous bridesmaid dress row. Originally it was claimed that Meghan made Kate cry in a row about Princess Charlotte's dress, but the Duchess of Sussex used her Oprah Winfrey interview to allege the opposite actually happened.
Meghan said that Kate "owned it", sending her flowers and apologising.
Harry also tells Bradby he put a "lot of hope" into the idea that the four of them would become a team, and that it could bring him and William closer together. He admits that being the "third wheel" at engagements when he was single was sometimes "awkward".
