The future King is set to mark his 9th birthday this month with a traditional noisy homage to his grandmother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
The young Prince George is celebrating his birthday on July 22 amidst a month of royal birthdays and celebrations. Nothing is yet known about how Prince George will be celebrating his special day, but it is likely to be a private, family affair.
Prince George's godmother, Julia Samuel, previously revealed a special tradition with links to Diana. She said the tradition may not especially please George's parents, but was all in good fun, reports Cambridgeshire Live.
"I do to George what [Diana] did to us which is give impossible toys which are really noisy, take a lot of making,” Samuel said.
“I come in slightly tipped by the size of the present that William then has to spend days putting together. And then put all the machinery together and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that. That makes me laugh and it makes George laugh."
Samuel said George is amazing, funny, feisty and cheeky.
"God she [Diana] would have loved him so much. That is heartbreaking for all of them,” said Samuel.
The Duchess of Cambridge is also expected to carry on her tradition of taking her children's official birthday photographs. For George's last birthday, he was pictured dressed in a simple striped t-shirt sitting on top of his great-grandfather Prince Philip's old Land Rover.

Prince George Alexander Louis, third in-line to the throne, was born on 22 July 2013 at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. He was introduced to the world the following day when he was just over 24 hours old.
The young prince is named after a number of important royal figures. Namely, The Queen's grandfather and father, King George V and King George VI, Lord Louis Mountbatten and Her Majesty herself as 'Alexander' is the male version of her middle name 'Alexandra'.
Prince George isn't the only royal who will be marking his birthday in July. The Duchess of Cornwall will also be celebrating her 75th birthday on July 17.
It was announced in June that Camilla would feature on the July 2022 cover for Vogue Magazine. In the interview with Vogue, she shared her thoughts on turning 75 and how she has coped with the limelight over the years.
"Who wants to be 75, really, but there’s nothing we can do about it, that’s life," she told the publication.
"I let them come and go. I mean I’d be very happy to turn back the clock … when you get to any big number, whether it’s 30, 50, 70, you think: ‘God, that’s so old".
As well as Prince George and The Duchess of Cornwall, a handful of other royals will also be marking their birthdays in July. The Queen's great-nephew, Charles Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley, will turn 23 on July 1 and The Queen's cousin, Prince Michael of Kent, will turn 80 on July 4.
Another of Princess Margaret's grandson's, Samuel Chatto, will turn 26 on July 28. Sam attended Eton College before he went on to study history of art at the University of Edinburgh.
Other anniversaries in July include what would have been Diana, Princess of Wales's 61st birthday on July 1, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's second wedding anniversary on July 17 and Zara and Mike Tindall's 11th anniversary on July 30.
