Birthdays are some of the most looked forward to and highly anticipated events of the year, and it is no different when it comes to the Royal Family. Whether it is the presents or the celebration itself, royal birthdays are often marked by much public excitement.
July is an important month for royal fans and will see anticipation reach fever pitch as a number of big occasions are coming up.
One of the most exciting days falls on July 22 as it will see Prince George mark his ninth birthday.
The third-in-line to the throne was born at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on July 22, 2013 and was introduced to the world the following day when he was just over 24-hours old.
Prince George Alexander Louis was named after a number of important royal figures. Namely, The Queen's grandfather and father, King George V and King George VI, Lord Louis Mountbatten and Her Majesty herself as 'Alexander' is the male version of her middle name 'Alexandra'.
While nothing is known about how Prince George will be marking his birthday day later next month, it is likely that it will be a private, family affair.
It is also expected that The Duchess of Cambridge will carry on her much-loved tradition of taking her children's official birthday photographs. For George's last birthday, he was pictured dressed in a simple striped t-shirt sitting on top of his great-grandfather Prince Philip's old Land Rover.
One of Prince George's birthday traditions has a special link to his grandmother, Diana, Princess of Wales and was previously revealed by his godmother, Julia Samuel.
She said of George: “He is amazing. He's funny and feisty and cheeky and God she [Diana] would have loved him so much. That is heartbreaking for all of them.”
She added that she continues a tradition started by Diana, who was godmother to her own son, revealing: “So I do to George what she did to us which is give impossible toys which are really noisy, take a lot of making.”
“I come in slightly tipped by the size of the present that William then has to spend days putting together. And then put all the machinery together and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that. That makes me laugh and it makes George laugh."

Prince George isn't the only royal who will be marking his big day in July as The Duchess of Cornwall will also be celebrating her landmark 75th birthday on July 17.
It was announced in June that Camilla would feature on the July 2022 cover for Vogue Magazine along with the interview she gave about her thoughts on turning 75 and how she has coped with the limelight over the years.
She told the publication: "Who wants to be 75, really, but there’s nothing we can do about it, that’s life." She continued: "I let them come and go. I mean I’d be very happy to turn back the clock … when you get to any big number, whether it’s 30, 50, 70, you think: ‘God, that’s so old".
Elsewhere in the interview the Duchess spoke about the media interest she has struggled against over the years. She said: "I was scrutinised for such a long time that you just have to find a way to live with it. Nobody likes to be looked at all the time and, you know, criticised and I think in the end, I sort of rise above it and get on with it. You’ve got to get on with life."
As well as Prince George and The Duchess of Cornwall, a handful of other royals will also be marking their birthdays in July. The Queen's great-nephew, Charles Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley, will turn 23 on July 1 and The Queen's cousin, Prince Michael of Kent, will turn 80 on July 4.
Elsewhere in the month, another of Princess Margaret's grandson's, Samuel Chatto, will turn 26 on July 28. Sam attended Eton College before he went on to study history of art at the University of Edinburgh.
Other anniversaries in July include what would have been Diana, Princess of Wales's 61st birthday on July 1, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's second wedding anniversary on July 17 and Zara and Mike Tindall's 11th anniversary on July 30th.
