Prince Andrew will miss Jubilee after positive covid test, palace confirms

Prince Andrew has tested positive for coronavirus and won't attend the Queen's platinum Jubilee, Buckingham Palace has announced.

The Palace announced Prince Andrew tested positive on Thursday, June 2. This means the Duke of York will not attend the Jubilee service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral.

It is understood Andrew saw the Queen in the last few days but was undertaking regular testing, and has not seen her since he tested positive.

A palace spokesman said: "After undertaking a routine test the Duke has tested positive for covid and with regret will no longer be attending tomorrow's service."

Prince Andrew was set to make an appearance at the service on Friday, June 3, which would have been the largest gathering of the royal family since the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2018.

The monarch's disgraced second son stepped down from public life after the furore over his friendship with paedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. The duke was cast out of the working monarchy and no longer uses his HRH title after Virginia Giuffre, who was trafficked by Epstein, accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was 17.

The duke has always denied the claims.
