Prince Andrew may make shock appearance at Queen's Platinum Jubilee service

Prince Andrew may make a shock appearance at the Queen 's Platinum Jubilee service, according to a report.

The Duke of York's presence at future family events has not been ruled out, a royal source told The Times.

This means he could join the Queen at St Paul's Cathedral on June 3 as she officially celebrates her 70th year on the throne.

It comes after Andrew controversially walked Her Majesty into Westminster Abbey for her late husband's memorial service.

The Queen reportedly overruled William and Charles by allowing her second son to chaperone her on Tuesday.

It was his first public appearance since settling Virginia Giuffre's civil sex abuse claim.

Prince Andrew denies all allegations related to the case and the settlement was not an admission.

Plans for the Duke of York to travel to the service alongside the Queen were made at the last minute, although he was expected to stay behind her as they entered St Paul's, it is claimed.

However, in a sign of support for her son, the monarch held his arm as she walked into the cathedral.

Although Andrew has been stripped of any official role in the Queen's Jubilee, a royal source told The Times "he is not ruled out from attending family events".

The Queen reportedly told Prince William and Prince Charles it was her “final decision” that Andrew would accompany her front and centre of her late husband’s memorial service.

Both royals went out of their way to warn the Queen that being seen publicly with Prince Andrew might not go down well after the accusations he faced - despite him denying all accusations made against him.

Both senior Royal Family members reportedly warned her about the optics of such a move “on more than one occasion”.

The two future kings were “absolutely united” against Andrew having a prominent position in the ceremony.

They thought it was “simply unnecessary” for Andrew to position himself as the only person to escort the Queen to church.

But, regardless of their protests, and accusations against Andrew, the 95-year-old told them that it was “her wish” that he chaperone her into the Abbey.

Prince Andrew looked “defiant” as he walked through St Paul's alongside the Queen, a body language expert is reported to have said..

She told the Daily Mail: “Taking his place next to Edward he cut an isolated but defiant-looking figure, but there were no glances or even nods of greeting and no discernible eye contact.

"The eye-avoidance looked deliberate, with most of the Firm staring pointedly ahead as though barely even aware of him.”

She pointed out how Edward and Sophie have been used by the Royal Family as buffers on other occasions but there was no “warmth” this time.

And she honed in on the closeness of the relationship that the Queen has with Andrew.

Ms James said: "The message from the Queen about her prodigal son Andrew looked unequivocal today.

"As her eldest son Charles is fond of saying, this is now clearly a 'non-negotiable' relationship."
