Prime Video has released new images for Them season 2. The horror anthology is set in the 1950s and follows the Emorys, a black family who have to contend with evil forces after moving to an all-white neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. Following the show’s debut back in 2021, Amazon Prime confirmed it had greenlit two seasons for the show, with Them season 2 expected to premiere in April 2024.
Now, with the release date of Them season 2 drawing near, Prime Video has unveiled a couple of images from the horror series’ new season. The images reveal that Debby Ayorinde, who gave an outstanding performance in season 1 as Livia Emory, is returning to the show as well as new faces like Joshua J. Williams and veteran actress Pam Grier. The images consist of creepy situations, including an imposing figure standing in a doorway and someone with a bag over their head in front of a birthday cake.
Season 2 has to answer many questions Them's season 1 left unanswered. Hopefully these can be answered as Prime Video initially green-lit a two-season order. Even though season 1 received mixed reviews, partially due to some of the show’s graphic imagery, Prime Video decided to forge on with the show, despite a three-year gap between seasons.
It has been confirmed that Them season 2 will be subtitled Them: The Scare. For the cast, alongside the aforementioned Williams, Grier, and Ayorinde, who is playing an entirely new role, the new season’s cast includes Luke James, Wayne Knight, Jeremy Bobb, Charlice Brice, Iman Shupert, and Carlito Olivero. Them season 2 will see the setting moved up to the 90s. The story will focus on Detective Dawn Reeve (Ayorinde), an LAPD Homicide officer who has been tasked with unraveling the gruesome murder of a foster home mother that has disturbed other experienced and hardened detectives.
Given the time jump from the 50s to the 90s, it remains to be seen how much the new season of Them will connect with what came before, or if the new season will forge its own path.
Them is available to stream on Prime Video.
