Prime Video’s Off Campus team has spoken out after some fans took things way too far, calling out “targeted harassment” directed at cast members and even their loved ones.
In a statement shared to the show’s social accounts, the team said, “The Off Campus community is built on a shared love of storytelling — and on respect for the real people who bring it to life.”
They continued, “We ask that everyone in this space extend that respect to our cast and the people in their lives. Accounts that engage in targeted harassment will be removed from following our accounts.”
The warning comes off the back of renewed scrutiny around star Mika Abdalla, who is set to lead season two alongside the Allie and Dean (Stephen Kalyn) storyline. Abdalla recently confirmed her split from actor Jake Short. Shortly after, a resurfaced podcast clip of Short jokingly referring to Abdalla as “some b—ch” quickly went viral, prompting intense speculation about their relationship.

The pair addressed the backlash in a joint statement to Us Weekly, writing: “People making harmful and inaccurate assumptions about our dynamic.”
They added, “We were in a loving, respectful relationship for five years, and it’s hurtful to see playful moments dissected in a way that does not reflect the respect and love we had and still have for each other.”
More broadly, it’s part of a very familiar pattern across fandoms right now. The Summer I Turned Pretty had to tell fans to stop showing up to filming locations, writing: “We love the excitement, but sharing locations and visiting set disrupts filming and creates real safety concerns for our cast and crew.”
Earlier, the show’s TikTok account also posted: “The show isn’t real but the people playing the characters are.”

Even Love Island stepped in ahead of a recent season, asking viewers to “keep it kind” and reminding fans that “everyone deserves to feel safe and respected”.
At a certain point, it does beg the question: when did watching a show turn into feeling entitled to the personal lives of the people in it?
Enjoy the slow-burn, scream about your fave couple, make your edits. But maybe don’t harass real humans over fictional storylines. It’s literally a TV show.
