Prime Minister Rishi Sunak issues statement after 3 people left dead in Nottingham attacks

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has issued a statement on the 'shocking' incident which has unfolded in Nottingham city centre. A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after three people were killed across Nottingham.

Police say three people are also being treated in hospital following three incidents in the centre of Nottingham - the force believes are all linked.

Now, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has thanked the emergency services for their efforts in responding to the incident - he has also passed on his thoughts to those injured and families who have lost loved ones as a result of what has happened.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said in a statement: "I want to thank the police and emergency services for their ongoing response to the shocking incident in Nottingham this morning. I am being kept updated on developments. The police must be given the time to undertake their work.

Officers were first called to Ilkeston Road, in Radford, just after 4am on Tuesday, June 13, where police found two people dead in the street. Police were then called to another incident in Milton Street where a van had attempted to run three people over, all of who are currently being treated in hospital.

A man was also found dead in Magdala Road, in Mapperley Park. A 31-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and he remains in police custody.
